In the "Fractal Mode" pane, lower right part of screen, I click the third item down, "Switch Mode", and it displays "Contains errors." This is the only helpful feedback I've been able to find. And I keep changing only the minus sign or the subtraction to make it stop working, so I suspect that there is a bug (or an arbitrary limitation of not being able to use this particular formula? - doesn't make sense.)

The only difference in the above two is the minus sign.īut if I add a line negating cc, it doesn't work again: init:Īs I think I've proven, negation and subtraction seem to be working. So I tried to enter the formula into UltraFractal, but no matter what I try, I can't get it to work.
ULTRA FRACTAL REVIEWS CODE
Here is the XaoS source code (*.xpf file contents): Position file automatically generated by XaoS 4.2.1 I found the following fractal, which I really like:Īs you, perhaps, can see, I have run up against the resolution wall (floor?), which means that the deeper I zoom at that point, the more pixelated and boxy the image gets:

Well, I was off a little. While using the real-time Fractal zoomer XaoS to explore the infinite universe having user formula "sin(z^2)-cos(z^2)+c", we start out here (important for universe identification and formula matching with other zoomer software applications, libraries or frameworks.): About two years ago, I predicted this would happen within the next ten years. However, with a little patience and study you are rewarded with truly great tone and feel. This unit is very deep and with all the adjustments you can certainly get ugly, non-musical sounds. I have even had good luck with the axa editor. So, I plug into the power amp on my jazz chorus and it sounds like a Marshall, or a Fender, or a Mesa, or a what ever I want. I have tried going frfr through my studio speakers and get good results, however I have not faired to well with the straight to the PA deal.

All this and complete flexability in routing, volume, control.mighty impressive. The fx are as good as I have ever used - the reverbs are incredible. They move around like a real tube amp and do it without making my ears bleed from excessive volume. The tones don't just sit there either, they're alive. The real kicker is that it gets organic in-between tones - and the volume knob on the guitar shifts you between clean and overdriven tones.

So what do you call a two space black box full of computer chips that gets truly organic tones -AxeFX! To say that I am impressed is an understatement. Marshall's, Fenders and Matchless have been my go to amps. The AxeFX Ultra and standard AxeFX are similar but the former, reviewed here, has a faster processor. I've played tubes amps for years and also repair them (mainly vintage types). Fractal Audio's AxeFX is the guitar processor with '80s looks and 21stcentury power This is the first product I've tried from Fractal Audio Systems, and it's one of a pair of guitar amp and effect simulators built by the company. First let me say that this forum has been a great help I searched it for months before I decided to buy and continue to find answers to my questions since my purchase. Well, after about a month with the ultra I think its time to chime in.
